Magical New Beginnings is focused on preventing homelessness by connecting low-income families with essential resources and the knowledge to move beyond living paycheck to paycheck.
Our vision brings immediate relief and long-term learning together: clothing and everyday essentials, a welcoming resource center, and practical education that helps families make informed decisions.
Compassion is our passion. We empower, not enable. We pair practical support with resources, knowledge, and skills that help people make informed choices, strengthen their independence, and build lasting stability. Our approach respects each person’s dignity and ability to shape their future.

Why the butterfly

Like the caterpillar’s transformation, a difficult chapter can still lead to a beautiful outcome.
Charm chose the butterfly because of the meaning she sees in its transformation. The caterpillar’s journey reminds her that struggle does not have to be the final chapter. There can still be beauty, possibility, and a magical new beginning on the other side.
Magical New Beginnings exists to be a resource along that journey. We want to help people meet immediate needs and empower them with knowledge, practical tools, and community support so they can make informed choices and build lasting stability.
Our Cinderella blue butterflies represent that promise of possibility. We believe people deserve dignity, encouragement, and a chance to shape a future beyond their current circumstances.

Charmaine Elaine Reyes-Chu
Founder & President • Known as Charm
As a single mother of four who has experienced homelessness, Charm understands why dignity, practical help, and a path forward matter.
She opened Magical New Beginnings Thrift Shop in 2020. Through that work and her community connections, her vision has grown beyond affordable shopping to include resources and education that help families build greater stability.
Her goal for the nonprofit is to prevent homelessness: help families meet essential needs, understand available resources, and gain knowledge they can use to move beyond living paycheck to paycheck.
Compassion is our passion. Charm’s vision is to empower, support, and transform: meet immediate needs with dignity while helping people gain tools to move forward independently.
The next chapter is a dedicated space where community support and practical learning can work together.
