BEST Robotics is non-profit organization whose mission is to engage and excite students about engineering, science, and technology as well as inspire them to pursue careers in these fields.  A major drive behind BEST is to ensure is the program is accessible to any school, which is why there is no fee to enter and the building materials are either given and the electronics are loaned.

After the challenge is revealed, students have six weeks to design, building, test, program, and drive their robot to complete the challenge.  In addition, they are called upon to market their robot and team in a exhibit booth and a marketing presentation.
